PR2: Episode 5 "Social Scene"

As promised, albeit belatedly, BlogNAC delivers a recap of the fifth episode of the second season of the best show on television, Project Runway.
















The task for this episode was to design a party dress for socialite, hotel heiress and Chick designer, Nicky Hilton. Word is that the people of Project Runway had originally asked real estate heiress Ivanka Trump to be featured socialite but she turned down the invitation.

There was a bit of drama in this episode with people stealing other peoples forms (for those of you not in the know a form is the designer's working manequine), but not anymore than one would expect when putting all those designers together in one room together. Andrae, the crybaby from Episode 2 [video], is clearly in love with both Nick and Santino and is just in awe of their tremendous designs. (Here is the love sick Andrae comforting the human hair ball Santino in bed [video]) When it was time to present their work to the heiress, the designers gathered at a fashionable New York night spot with their respective muses (I really hate it when they say that) to "pop some bottles" and show off their work to Ms. Hilton. During their demonstrations Nicky alternated between bored, horrified and completely fake, which I imagine is the complete arsenal of expressions if one is an heiress. After the designs had been presented and the bottles popped, there was a designer walk-off ala Zoolander after which Andrae remarked that "of corse, Nick and Santino have the best walks" (So goddamn pathetic) There was also a little dancing by a drunken Diana, which although consistently awful apparently garnered the approval of BlogNAC blogger Noah.

However, when all the designing was done the top three contestants in the episode were deservedly Santino, Nick and Chloe, who are also the top three in the show overall.

Clearly the worst designs were those offered by two of the "Virgin faction" (Marla, Guadalupe and Diana) namely Marla, whose dress looked almost identical to the "Chloe" worn by Ms. Hilton in the dossier, and Guadalupe, whose dress featured detachable flowers that weren't actually detachable and the elastic portion of some army green gym socks. Marla's design was unoriginal, but Guadalupe's was unforgiveable. Michael Kors guaranted that wearing "the Guadalupe" on the red carpet would certainly earn a spot on "The Worst Dressed List" and Gofugyourself.

Next week's episode is a team competition and the losing 2 designer team will be "Auf Weidersehened". I really hope that the two remaining virgins, Marla and Diana who are paired up, will be eliminated. I really detest both of them.
